Working with the client directly and their interior designer, the brief was to create a superb 7.1 cinema and music system based around a 50” plasma by day and 126” projection screen by night.
The room was designed from scratch as a dedicated entertainment room with the focal point a large media wall. Ian Pirie from our Sales team and Allan Land our Installation Director were both heavily involved in the design of the media wall, allowing it to contain all of the electronics (DVD, Amplifier, Playstation, Sky box, Video Scaler) as well as the plasma screen, drop down acoustically transparent projection screen, in-wall home cinema speakers and larger pro-audio karaoke speakers.
The end result was something visually very striking, with no compromise performance.
The projector chosen for the job was a JVC DLA HD1 as it has a long throw ratio and is full 1080P compatible. To maximise picture quality, this is fed by a high-end Lumagen video scaler.
Control of the system is via a fully customised hand held touch screen driven remote control, where the press of a button can fully set up the system for a variety of material and situations.
A Lutron GRAFIK EYE lighting controller was also supplied and installed, which can control the level and intensity of each lighting circuit in the room. This is also controlled from the remote and helps with “scene setting”.
